]]> By: dr siva ratnam http://www.malaysiamix.com/2008/11/19/vedhasashtraz/comment-page-2/#comment-10128 dr siva ratnam Tue, 07 Jul 2009 08:27:38 +0000 http://www.malaysiamix.com/?p=734#comment-10128 good day, this is the first time iam writing to malaysia mix.i have been a a fan of our tamil hip hop industry,( who said doctors dont listen to hip hop)the past one year ,theres been a great increase in interest in our hip hop industry,since yogi B did his album.i have been following the devlopemnt of this one particular group MASTA CLAN,in the begining i thought they had a great or rather unique way of doing their music,ASHWAHA,that song was good,it had a east-cost with some indian flavour to it,the rap was good,the way the vocals change from one raper to the other was good to.after waiting for some time ,i manage to buy their album,sadly they were selling the album in brickfields,by the road side,i was supprised with that ,but i bought it anyway.the cover design was impressive i must say ,so i played the cd in my car ,on my way back to klang,i was very dissapointed with the songs and the quality of the product.the sales guy told me that the cd was mastered in the U.S,it didnt sound like that,then the songs,i was wondering why did ASHWAHA sound different ,compared to the whole album,furthermore,there is another version of ASHWAHA,on the album...now i must ask this...who composed or produced the songs,they sound very awfull,nothing to the first single,and even so the mastering is so bad,that you can hear,the hissing sound( got some advice from an audio engineer)and the levels of trck 1 to track 2,3 is different so is with the other tracks .iam not here to put the group down,but iam here to tell you guys that when you have done a good job in the begining,everyone expects a good product after that including me.i felt cheated,this album is not worth the money i paid for.then i found out that the sales guy who sold me the album is actualy the groups member. i was shocked that the artiste has to sell the album for the company,why is that?there are hundreds of cd shops in the country,why must you guys sell your cds at the side walk ...this is not professional at all.artiste are not sales people,they are performers,the company who produced the album must take the nessasary steps to promote and sell the albums at the designated place ,CD SHOPS !!not road sides .well i can only say this after listening to the album and getting feedback from friend ( they are from major recordinglabels)the album sounds as unprofessional as the producers and the record company is .the cover is the only thing inpressive on the album,with bad english and grammer mistakes to add. i hope all groups in the country would read your contracts well when you about to sign a record deal with a company to produce an album,make sure they dont use you to sell albums,beg people to buy your album,perform at the side walk,thats very very sad and lame .so be aware of compnies who are trying to make use of our local talents for their personel benefits. thank you dr siva ratnam. doctor with a hip hop flavour good day,
